The Incredible Journey of The Cheyennes from Oklahoma to Wyoming in 1878 – ‘The Last Frontier’ by Howard Fast (Book, 1941)

‘The Last Frontier’ a novel by Howard Fast, first published in 1941, is based on the actual history of the journey in late 1878 of the Northern Cheyennes from a government reservation in Oklahoma to their ancestral lands of Black Hills, Wyoming.

This journey and their struggle is an apt recollection, in light of the continuing injustice to the Native American People, especially the ongoing laying of the Dakota Access Pipeline.
