Birds in Iceland | Claudia’s Wonderworld (Video)

Summary:

Most of these birds were recorded on the icelandic Westfjords near Hólmavík and Drangsnes.
The area around Hvammur cottages in Bjarnarfjörður is also full of birds.
Furthermore, the Látrabjarg cliffs (very west end of Iceland) are famous for birders.

Lake Mývatn on the main island is also a paradise for ornithologists.
At Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon you´ll find a lot of eider ducks, that are not too shy.

If you want to watch puffins, you best do the ingólfshöfði puffin tour in the south of Iceland: https://www.fromcoasttomountains.com/

This guided tour is a lot of fun, including a drive though the shallow sea with a tractor.

Also at Borgarfjarðarhöfn at Bakkagerði (nord-east peak of Iceland) you´ll find a lot of puffins, and at Dyrhólaey (in the south) you also have chances.

It is said, that on Grimsey Island Nature Reserve (West Fjords) and Hrisey (near Akureyri) should also be a lot of puffins. But so far I have not been there… YET 🙂

Question: Do you know the bird that swims along the eider ducks?

This video is shot freehand and manually focused.
